A combo of Fitzmaurice Voicework® and The Meisner Technique: "The perfect balance of acting, voice, body and breath work.Together we will explore what it feels like to be authentic, present and spontaneous in our creative as well as our everyday lives.
The class is a whole-body approach for anyone interested in developing their body and voice expression for better communication and strengthened creativity. This work combines yoga, ball work, shiatsu, Reichian bodywork and other meditative practices. FitzMeisner integrates these elements to help empower each individual to trust and allow instincts. Through a series of acting, voice and body exercises you'll begin to loosen the grip on your breath, body and brain.
The work will help you to:
- increase vocal ease, flexibility and health
- awaken true spontaneity
- enhance presence through relaxed energization
- deepen emotional availability
- transform nervousness into vibrancy
*Bring one or two performance pieces, either text, song, a poem or all 3 to work with during the workshop. Something that inspires/means something to you or a character you really want to explore. *Have these pieces memorized.* Shakespeare and contemporary monologues need not be longer than 16 lines.
What you will need:
-yoga mat (we will be spending a lot of time on the floor)
-zafu cushion or thick pillow used to prop up pelvis.
-small head pillow (not essential)
-small blanket (not essential)
-layers of clothing/socks are essential. (Wear clothing that you can have ease of movement in, such as you would wear to a yoga class).
-Water and snacks
-There will be a lunch break.
